NAHB

The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) is a Washington, D.C.-based trade association whose mission is to enhance the climate for housing and the building industry. Chief among NAHB's goals is providing and expanding opportunities for all consumers to have safe, decent and affordable housing.  As "the voice of America's housing industry," NAHB helps promote policies that will keep housing a national priority.

Founded in 1942, NAHB is a federation of more than 800 state and local associations. About one-third of NAHB's 235,000 members are home builders and/or remodelers. The remaining members are associates working in closely related fields within the housing industry, such as mortgage finance and building products and services.

NAHB's various groups analyze policy issues, take the industry's story to the public through the media and other outlets, monitor and work toward improving the housing finance system, analyze and forecast economic and consumer trends, and educate, train and disseminate information to members. The association also represents the industry's interests on Capitol Hill and strives to ensure that housing remains a national priority when laws are made and policies are established. NAHB also works with federal agencies on regulations affecting the housing industry in areas such as mortgage finance, codes, energy and the environment. Finally, the association strives to shape decisions of the courts, by becoming involved in litigation on land development, environmental, and construction liability matters, such that laws and regulations may be interpreted favorably for the housing industry.

NCHBA

The North Carolina Home Builders Association (NCHBA) is a dynamic group of builders and associate member firms across the state who pool information and efforts to provide the collective clout and muscle the home building industry needs…for self protection, for the benefits of its members, and for the protection of home buyers.

NCHBA plays a key role in helping maintain consistently higher industry standards of conduct, quality, and ethics.  Membership in NCHBA helps crystallize collective opinions…in order to effect change in Congress, the NC General Assembly, the courts and regulatory agencies.

If you are a home builder or a supplier to the industry, the representation you receive from NCHBA through its affiliation with the National Association of Home Builders is vital…vital to your interests, your needs and your survival in America's largest industry.

REBIC

The Real Estate and Building Industry Coalition (REBIC) is an organization of trade associations and private firms formed to take collaborative action on issues of concern to its members in real estate sales, building, development, finance, management and leasing. Since early in the 1980's, REBIC has been active in public policy, and issues of concern to the real estate and building industry.

The simple theory behind REBIC is strength in numbers. REBIC functions as the government affairs office for its member organizations with a single mission: to promote public policies which encourage regional economic growth, job creation and a healthy real estate industry.

Any organization which desires to have an influence upon public policy must effectively monitor and analyze information from a wide variety of sources. It must also research and formulate policy positions, and communicate those positions to constituency groups, elected officials and agency staffs. In addition to participating in the regular meetings of its member associations, the professional staff of REBIC also monitor government meetings in
Mecklenburg, Union, Cabarrus, Gaston, IredellCounty, Catawba, Lancaster, Chester and YorkCounties in SC. In addition to local and regional meetings, Mary Thomsen monitors the Real Estate Commission and the North Carolina General Assembly at the state level for the Charlotte Regional Realtors Association. These meetings not only provide a source of information for REBIC and its members, they also serve as forums in which REBIC lobbies on behalf of its members.
